SuperPower StudioDesktop app

A motion-graphics studio with SuperPower FX inside.

SuperPower Studio is a desktop compositor that works the way After Effects does: compositions, layers, keyframes, expressions, effects, 3D and a render queue. SuperPower FX is built in: a piece of code draws on a layer, and every number, colour and point it declares becomes a control you can keyframe.

In development. Windows first, macOS later. It will be a public download; SuperPower FX inside it is activated as in After Effects.

An element in SuperPower Studio

controls: {
  radius: slider({ value: 120, min: 20, max: 160 }),
  sides:  slider({ value: 6, min: 3, max: 12, step: 1 }),
},
Radius120 px
Sides6

The element's code declares two controls; they appear in Effect Controls under the Edit Code… button.

SuperPower FX on a layer

The same engine draws elements here and in the After Effects plug-in, with the same libraries, so an element behaves the same in both.

  • Write it, or let an AI write it

    An element is a piece of code drawn on its own layer, with real transparency. Edit Code… opens the editor: code, preview, controls and console. Apply is one step you can undo.

  • Controls in Effect Controls

    Every slider, angle, colour, point, checkbox, menu and text the code declares is a real parameter of the effect: keyframe it, drive it with an expression, change it by hand.

  • Kept in the project

    The code and its settings are saved inside the project file, with no files beside it. Reopen the project and the element is there, with its controls and keyframes.

  • Rendered offline, in a sandbox

    Element code runs in isolated pages of the SuperPower FX engine, without network access, in previews and in the render queue alike.

Agents work in the studio

AI agents connect to the studio's own MCP server, in the desktop app or from the command line without a window. They create layers and elements, set and keyframe controls, look at previews and render. A skill that comes with the studio teaches them how to write elements.

Built on an open compositor

SuperPower Studio is built on EffectCraft, an open-source compositor by the ArtCraft team and the EffectCraft contributors (MIT licence). SuperPower Studio is made by Pro-Motion; the ArtCraft team does not make, endorse or support it.

It installs beside EffectCraft with settings of its own. Its projects open in EffectCraft too: a SuperPower FX element shows there as a missing effect, and its data is kept.

Export

Video in AV1 and VP9, audio in Opus, PNG and EXR image sequences, uncompressed MOV. H.264, HEVC and ProRes are planned through codecs already on your computer: Windows Media Foundation, or an FFmpeg you install.

Where it stands

SuperPower Studio is in development. EffectCraft is young and changes quickly, so each build of SuperPower Studio is made and tested on one fixed version of it. Windows comes first, macOS after. Expand Canvas reaches 4096 px on each side.
